Shock Absorber Interchange?!!

Hey all,

I found Bilstein 24-19291 on the Summit racing website and even though they only list them for the front of 1973+ 2wd truck, according to the Bilstein website they also fit 68-72 trucks. So I'm good for the front but Bilstein doesn't list anything for the back and the best shocks I can find for coil spring rears are the KYB gas adjust KG5416 at Summit.

I know KYBs are decent shocks....they are the best thing you can get for Dodge K chassis cars now that Koni has discontinued selling to that venue. But I want Bilsteins on the back of my 72 Suburban C20 even more importantly than the front. The truck rides fine on smooth pavement, but the back end likes to bounce on repeated expansion joints...like when going over the Piscataqua River Bridge (I-95) between NH and Maine.

I'm wondering if the rear shocks from a 1973+ c10/c20 truck with leaf springs is close enough to work on a 72 coil spring rear. I'd think the only big issues would be shock length and the size of eyelets/bolt size. Bilstein number is 24-009331 if anyone is interested. I can no longer make a direct comparison as my Dad sold his 87 c10 suburban a couple years ago when he picked up his 99 C1500 burb. Thanks!

interesting that the front shocks for a vintage toyota are a good fit for the rear of a 3/4 ton Chevy. has anyone actually gone this route yet? just curious to know before i take the plunge.

i could go this route http://www.dreamershotrods.com/6772c...lineparts.aspx but i kinda dig the normal blue on yellow as it will contrast with my blue truck and the price is much better.
