Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) work arounds?
Considering a Gen III/IV motor to replace my BBC LS6 motor. As I consider the GM engine options I notice that many Gen III and ALL Gen IV motors have ETC. My question is this: Is there a programming work around or is installation of a new pedal assembly essential?
Appreciate your experiences and guidance as I navigate this project. John:chevy: |
Re: Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) work arounds?
Because your truck has a "linkage" style throttle pedal.....A change will be required anyway.
There no way around running ETC with 03 & up Gen III engines(excluding vans) when keeping the factory EFI. All Gen IVs will need it. There are thousands of swaped vehicles running ETC including my Suburban, No reason not to run it. |
Re: Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) work arounds?
Many thanks. I thought so. I really like the throttle response of a cable vs. ETC. Which 5.3 do you have? LM4, LC9, LH6 or LH8? How does the 5.3 move your Burb? I really like the 6.2L (L92, LS2) but may settle for a 6.0L....L76 or LY6.

The 5.3 moves my burb just fine, But its a daily driver I was after MPG not performance. L92 & LS3 6.2Ls are great, LQ4/LQ9 & LS2 6.0Ls are nice to. Dont count out the 5.7L LS1/LS6. |
