Great New Boardmember

1 Attachment(s)
davepl, a new boardmember that is restoring a 1972 GMC big block Sierra Grande offered up this rare 1973 Longhorn canopy (topper). I gladly drove out to his place and attached to my 68 Longhorn. It has a couple of wrinkles but it is a great period piece for work truck. I will need to paint that blue to Anniversary Gold as soon as we get a dry day...July 14 in Seattle.

These extra-long canopies are tough to find!

Good deal. I love the look of your truck. With those slots it looks evil.

Way to go Dave! Hmmm...paint that to match or get a painter to paint on a woodgrain. That would look classy, blend well with the gold, and be right for the era look. Matched to truck would be nice, too,of course.(should I have even suggested an alternative to such a fool for 50th anniversary gold and white?)
Ten or more years ago I looked at a restored '70 C/30 Medium Olive Poly Longhorn with a Gem Top (I believe it had a band of matching paint, too). That thing looked sharp!! It was a big block CST w/buckets,and on and on. Man! I am so sorry I didn't buy it. I lost a lot of sleep on that one.

I use PPG, acrylic enamel, and give them the Chevrolet 551 paint code and they come up with the number. As it turns out GM used the exact same gold as Chrylsler during '68. Not a problem getting that paint.

Hey I never saw this, I'm the great "new" board member! I guess it's been a while, some 3200 posts and two bans later. Now I kinda wish I had a canopy :-) But they're no fun to store in the city, so it was better someone got use out of it!

Hmm, this name sounds familiar. Do you also have a green chevelle?
