Sway bar

My truck does not have sway bars and i like to add them ,does any one know of a company that makes complete kits.i dont have the stands for the front ,all the pics i have looked at dont show the stands, will i need to get some used ones ?also with the 2.5 dropped spindles and 2.5 dropped coils do i need to modify the stands?

CPP sells kits. I think the stands are included in the full kit, and yes you will need lower brackets (stands) if your truck is dropped.
Then there is Addco, I bought this kit (front and rear) from Brothers, Im happy with the bars now that I have them on, but the instructions are terrible and supplied mounting hardwear was not so good. They needed a bit of modification to fit proper, but nothing serious.

I got Belltechs swaybars from summitracing. P/N BEL-5404 and BEL-5508. Came with everything. Mine didnt have provisions for a sway bar on my truck but those bars came with everything I needed to install them.

I have the front Addco kit. Do you have any pictures of your install. My LCA's have holes for factory mounts, but, as you know, this kit is not a factory replacement. What did you do to make it fit?

Re: Sway bar

Its a night and day difference with those belltechs. I went front stock height no sway bars to 4.5/6 drop with those belltech bars. CRAZY difference.

Re: Sway bar

Mines dropped 4.5 front 6 rear. Too. I gotta weld the frame stiffener in for the steering box and reweld the front crosmember.the steering is like jelly right now.I have rebuilt the front end completely and its way better I can't wait to put on the bars and try it out.thanks

I have the same set up as ringger14, mine is dropped 4.5, 5 I believe, with belltech sway bars front and rear and it's an extreme difference. You wouldn't believe the truck can handle like that once everything is done. When you upgrade to bigger wheels, it makes the performance even better with less tire.

I was thinking 18x10 rear and 18x8 front.im thinking of a narrowed rear to get 18x12.what size tires can you tuck in there with the rear narrowed?

Re: Sway bar

So do you have to modify anything to drop the truck and use the factory say bar?

Re: Sway bar

Your going to be limited on rear tire width by the wheel wells in the bed. Youll hit those before you hit anything else. Not sure the sizes. @gmclowsierra You may have to adjust them a bit but you should be able to run the factory sway bar just fine with a drop.

BamaDave, here are some pictures that shows how I did the installation of the ADDCO bar.

If you compare the picture in tazman87īs post with this you can see the difference between how an OE like swaybar mounts and how the the ADDCO bar mounts.

Picture 1 If the ADDCO bar went straight instead of angle out you could use one of the OE holes in LCA, but as you can see it meets LCA mush further out.

Picture 2 shows the ADDCO bar mounted to the frame, it sits just after the bend in the frame. The OE bar sits infront of the bend.

Picture 3 shows how far out the ADDCO bar mounts on the LCA compared to the OE bar, the hole you can see in the control arm is one of the holes for the OE bushing.
