Ok guys Have any of you used extreme 5 star dtm primer 5424 hardner 5426. is it hard to work with ... i know some like to use epoxy and 2k hi build ..
it can be top coated after 90 min or so.. but my question is
if i leave it and wait to shoot it say couple weeks later..
do i sand it like you would wet dry sanding or can i scuff it up with a sotch
brite pad ??? so it would bond to the primer . ..sounds like a question for Alan . :metal:
i do have an 2.3 hvp gun because this stuff is thick .. 4-1 high build 4-1-1
reg primer or 4-1-2 for sealer depending on how i want to mix it ..
Thanks for your time guys any feed back would be cool :chevy:

Re: Extreme five star primer

I used this on my '64 SB years ago and just bought a new batch. I like it 'cuz it can do everything with just a different mix. On the '64 my buddy mixed it as a sealer, I believe. It came out very thick like high build and has to be sanded, IMO. I'm cleaning it up(sanding) and going to spray a second coat after 6 years. I'm not a pro body guy at all; I used it because it was affordable and flexible.

When I finish my second coat I will block it and get ready for a topcoat.

Let us know how it works out. The price is reasonable and it sounds like an EZ solution. I have epoxy and high build urethane, this would save a step.

i've used this primer on all my body and paint projects..wait 20 mins between coats ..i usually apply 3 coats..then i wait about 3 to 4 days then block out panels with 320 grit sand paper then chase that with 500 to 600 hundred grit paper ,,depending on the top coat i'm using.
