How to remove A/C knobs
 

I purchased an a/c control panel at a local swap meet and I am planning on installing a vintage a/c system in the near future and was cleaning up the panel. How do I remove the knobs that slide back & forth? Do I just pull on them with a pair of pliers, I could not see any set screws. I dont want to damage them.

I figured it out. I just took a pair of pliers and was able to pull them off without damaging them.
