many questions!

Firstly, id just like to say hi to all of you, ive wanted an older chevy for a while now, i finally got a 78 k30 dually. I love this truck!

But i have a lot of questions about it too. and if any of yall could help me with an answer i would be very thankful.

Firstly, it is a teepee truck so does that mean it has a gvw of ten thousand? and if so what is your best guess at what this model weighs? im thinking 6000 right?

Secondly, where in the world can i find a 3+3 emblem?

also, since its a teepee truck should it have a camper special emblem below the teepees? i have seen with and without.

and this may be a dumb question but can you paint the plastic door panels? and the dash? i have paint peeling off but i dont know if you can touch up that kind of plastic.

i found this site when i was changing a heater blower motor on my tahoe, and i was just amazed at all the advice, thanks for helping me so much. Maybe someday i can post something on here to help you.

Re: many questions!

its hard to say if the teepee truck is in fact a camper special without checking the codes on the sticker or build sheet. if it is a camper special it should have the logo on the truck.. its not a 10K lb truck its either a three quarter ton or one ton depending on the suspension.
You can clean off paint on your dash and door panels and re dye them and change the color.. and lastly you can prolly find the 3+3 emblem in LMC or used at the boneyard

Re: many questions!

The camper special duallys I have seen have the GVWR on the emblem. I had a crew dually with the emblems, it said 10,000 GVWR.
I'll see if I can dig up the pics...

Re: many questions!

my truck came to me without any emblems except silverado on the dash. i can tell this truck used to be red at one time.

I saw on the sticker on the door jam which is luckily there said gvwr 7500 . camper specials are 10000 right? it also said front 2500 rear 7500, i am not sure what this means?

i dont have any emblems, but i thought all teepees were camper specials? is that right? and i definitly would love to get those 3+3 emblems and any camper special or silverado 30 emblems if any one has them. just tell me how much!

The interior pieces take them off clean them with t.s.p. cleaner and wear gloves,Once its clean use a adhesion promoter then use duplicolor fabric and vinyl or you can use semi brand dye both will do the job good.

Re: many questions!

I am going to try that Andrew. Thank you, i am going to try it all on a back half top sill piece and see how it goes.

I have another question does anyone have any 75-80 golden grill bowties or silverado 30 emblems for those years? those things are exspensive if you can go less than lmc i can pay. but ebay and lmc are kicking me in the wallet!
