Re: What is a good sound deadner 56 chevy truck
I've heard a lot of good stuff about Fatmat, I'm looking into purchasing some rattle trap fatmat for my 2000 for sound deadner, if it works good I'll use it in my project/playtoy.

Re: What is a good sound deadner 56 chevy truck
I just picked up two gallons of the liquid fat mat to do my 72. I'll let you know how it goes... I plan to spray if on Tuesday.

Re: What is a good sound deadner 56 chevy truck
These days a common practice is to take a two step approach. Take a look at Lizard Skin flr a spray in thermal barrier. Follow that with Brown Bread or Fatmat to reduce harmonics and sound levels

Re: What is a good sound deadner 56 chevy truck
I just did my 53 with hushmat. It's awesome! It's a peel and stick then you run a hard wheel roller over it (paper paper edge roller from local paint store). I can't believe the difference. I put it on my floor, back panel, and inside the doors. First hour drive last weekend was amazing the difference in noise reduction in the cab and reduced the heat greatly! I'd highly recommend it.

I plan on doing this.. Dynamat, fat mat, lizardskin to be too expensive in my opinion. |

All this info would also apply to pre-47 trucks. Very informative thread.

Re: What is a good sound deadner 56 chevy truck
I've been using Second Skin Dampifier for several years and am currently
testing Hy-Tech SC#1000 (gift from Livrat :metal:) on my car. I did the entire floor board thickly, firewall to rear deck, with about 1 1/2 cups of coating with a chip brush. Very easy and quick. Under the coating is Hammerite (what I had on hand) over strips of the dampifier & rust hole patches. When I drove the car last night I could hear the difference after coating. This car has ZERO interior...one bucket seat, one seat belt and is normally loud. Also ordered just the spheres on ebay a couple days ago...1 pint for a total of about 10 bucks. Plans are to mix some spheres into Rustoleum for a truck floor. |
