That box looks sweet! What seats are you planning on using? Seems like it might stick out too far.

Re: started my sub box build...
Thanks guys...
I used my bench... the subs have plenty of room the 6x9 touch but the seat doesn't press on them and only due to the large cover on the kappa's... my seat is all the way back.. I have a stock seat with stock seat brackets.. but all the way back it still seems too close to the wheel.. but it could be the size of these cabs.. there is enough room to drive and get to the peddles.. I feel like the wheel is too close... This is my seat locked in the far back spot... http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...89/boxfit2.jpg . |

Looks great. This is what I built for my truck. Not easy making a box to fit behind the bench seat. I'm 6' 2" tall and I need the bench all the way back so I had to build the box wide to get enough air space for the sub to sound good. I'm not a huge fan of having the highs above my head but that headliner was in it when I bought the truck. Actually doesn't sound too bad. I've cleaned up the wiring now too.

Re: started my sub box build...
Nice box man. Yeah its hard to get the seat all the way back if you want subs. Shallow mounts are the way to go i have 2 12's behind the seat its only about two clicks up not too bad. I just redid my set up added an amp for the 6x9s and 6.5's, next is a bigger amp for subs. added dynamat to the whole cab sounds a lot better now. How my wiring look?

Re: started my sub box build...
Nice work.
I think it was “Classic Trucks” that had an article in this month’s issue about an audio system that used some shallow Kicker (I think) sub boxes that fit under the bench seat. I thought it was pretty slick. It was in a ’68-‘72, but I was thinking about sticking the bench back in my cab and measuring to see if I could do something like that in my dually. |
Re: started my sub box build...
the steering wheel in these trucks are to close anyhow. look into the 2 inch column mod.

nekkidhillbilly, I'm also interested in moving the steering wheel back. Just not sure how to go about it. I also want to keep the tilt.

There is a small area in the middle where it might be possible to do a shallow 8 or 10... If you figure something out, please let me know! Posted via Mobile Device |
