gearhead/mechanic shirt designs

Over the last few years I've found the selection of shirts that satisfy my gearhead side while looking nice enough for me to wear out with friends or to my casual dress code job, to be dwindling. Being a professional graphic designer I decided to try and address this situation. THIS IS NOT A PITCH for my product but an attempt to get in closer contact with and feedback from my target audience. I'm a gearhead and I participate in this forum on a few different year range sub-forums, Project Curly in the 47-59 section and both Project Larry's in the 60-66 section, and hope to get feed back on these designs to help me decide if I should actually order some.

Six designs in total available on three colors of shirt, red, black, and white:

6 Wire Wings - Mockup on this is slightly wrong, this design will be printed on the back rather than the front and only a black shirt for now.

The plan, is to make the shirts above available in sizes m - xl on a fitted ringspun cotton shirt for comfort, strength, and a nice clean fitted look. For sizes 2xl - 3xl the shirt would be printed on a more traditional square cut shirt, something my bigger friends suggested would be well received.

When I consider a shirt I consider whether 'I would buy it', 'like it', or 'don't like it'. Since I'm trying to gauge actual potential buyer would you let me know based on a similar measuring stick?

Thanks to anyone who will participate.

I really like them! I think the designs are great, very much a gearhead t-shirt without being too gearhead. I want one in every colore in large!! hehe

I like them alot! I have a good collection of hot rod shirts, but for some reason 2XL and 3XL means 2 or 3 times wider and the same length. I rarely ever find a good hot rod T-shirt with the right length for anyone over 5-10, let alone my 6-3 frame. If you can find some good T's I'll buy whatcha got!

Thanks! Your description of the shirts as a gearhead without being too gearhead is exactly what i wanted! Something i can wear and be a proud gearhead but also not look like a carshow hobo. Classy Moto might be a good description.

I'm 6'4" myself and i TOTALLY understand the fitment issue w gearhead shirts. Since i wear an xl and not a 3xl i have managed to find some shirts some places and i hope to bring quality shirts that wear well, fit nicely, look great, and let you feel like a gearhead without looking like a greasemonkey!

I think they all look great, and I'm also in the same boat as you and LEEVON, I'm 6'10" and most xl t shirts aren't as long as I'd like them to be. If you can find good longer xl size shirts for these I'm down for 3 or 4, minimum.

I explained in great detail to my customer service rep. what style shirt I wanted and the shirt we landed on is suppose to match up to the requirements. Prior to ordering the actual printed shirts though I plan to take the customer service rep up on her offer to let me order some sample shirts printed on that same blank to make sure. Like I said above, being 6'4" and having a lot of heigh in my torso I can't stand it when shirts shrink and lose a lot of body length so I'm fighting for as quality of shirt as I can afford to use. Thanks for your comments about the designs and I hope we can make something work for you!

As a follow up, the shirts have under gone a few tweaks taking into consideration EVERYTHING that has been outlined in your suggestions. The company/brand has also had some changes and I've had to pull back the reigns on a few things. The shirts will be available soon and I will PM those that have expressed an interested. And if anyone else is interested feel free to PM me.

Most of all I do want to thank you all for your contributions.

I dig the designs. Any chance your gonna get some made up in true fat boy size? Most of my local racer type buddies and myself all wear 3-5xlt's. We grow'em big here in Texas.;)
