How hard would it be to lay rocker?
How hard would it be to actually get as low as my truck in my avatar? I KNOW I'd have to completely remove the front/rear fenderwells, but I mean other than that...wouldn't I need to somehow raise my tranny crossmember and probably my front crossmember, as they're the only two things that are below my rocker line (other than my suspension, of course)

just like you said. anything tahts below the rockers has to get raised. and you'll need the bed cut open and probly at least a 10 inch notch

You can lay rocker with a 10" step notch, raised front cross-member, and removed/custom wheel houses.

.. body drop

Hmm? Let me think here. The front crossmember has to be replaced, modded, or raised. The tranny crossmember can be flipped above the frame. The e-brake cable/brackets hang down. The exhaust crossover is way to low too.
Beyond that, plan to cut and super C the frame and bed. That's a good starting point anyway. Then you can plan on spending 2k on air suspension. This is where you start... |
oK, even after you flip your tranny cross member, raise the crossmember, move the gas tank, use tubular upper and lower control arms, raise the steering - you still are only going to lay frame. Trust me, I have doen all these things, and my truck lays flat on the frame - which puts the rockers about an 1-1/4" off the ground. Also - I'm running a 9" notch in the rear on a 27" tall tire and I have about 3-4" left before the axle hits. So really no need for that 10" notch at all, unless you really want to tuck some huge meat.

Here is a close one to your picture you fabricated....

Unfortunately, you will absolutely have to do a body drop to lay rocker. The frame under the cab extends below the rocker. (also, the other items previously mentioned)
Purely for safety reasons, you should only drop it to the point that when fully lowered, you still have room to drive it, even with the tires flat. You never know when something really shi*ty will happen. Just some advice. :D post some pics when you slam it! :flag: |
