Stock radiator in my swb 4x4? Is this ok?

So I'm building my truck. It's a 1972 k10 swb 4x4. It's got a stock rebuilt 98 vortec 350 and a sm465. I need to get a radiator. Would it be ok to put a stock one in it? 1 ton maby? Any info? This is a 50/50 on road off road truck. Thanks for all your help. Posted via Mobile Device

What engine was in there before? If it had a V8, I would think you will be fine.

Yes the stock radiator will be just fine.

While a stock one will do the job, if you're buying a new one anyway, it doesn't cost much to upgrade to a 4-row. :)

My '71 SWB K/10 w/307 had the HD radiator option. That's a stock radiator that's better than anything made today. These trucks were built great. That's why they are so popular these days...not just good looking. They have out lasted all other makes from just being what they are. What came in it would be just fine. But I agree with Stocker. Since you don't have one I'd go for the 4-row.

I just put in a new all metal 4 row into my 350/4speed 1970 K10 just because I could, and it replaced a 3 row that was just old and getting ready to fail.

You can get too big of a radiator unless you live in Death Valley or something. I once put a 4 core in a vehicle and it was too big. It took forever to warm up. Stock should be fine. If it's an EFI engine with a computer it will probably want to run about 210. Carbed engines liked about 180 degrees.

110 degree summers, low gears, running 3500 RPM consistently on the highway, stop and go traffic, 180 easily obtained just in the morning warm up. Yea, I'm cool with a good 4 row radiator. ;)

I believe if you have the proper thermostat, a good clutch fan along with the right fan shroud. Getting to operating temp is easy, no matter if you run a light or heavy duty radiator.

I think the 4 core I had was in a 67 Camaro 350 street car built to the moon. I run electric only fans all day long with a stock 83 radiator and run at 180.
