Finally found where the rain was leaking in

Something to look.

It wasn't a bad leak. A little water puddling on the floor board and some inside the glove box. Yesterday we had a good storm and I took the glove box out to see if I could detect residual moisture and found it coming from a small weep hole under the bottom of the rear dash pad panel (first pic).

I originally had thought it was the drip channels, windshield seal or the vent openings but after I took the vent cowling off I noticed that the seam from the firewall to the cab just under the windshield was not sealed properly and allowing rain in when it rained hard (second pic). You can see where I sealed it already.

Thanks for pointing out that potential problem spot or seam.
Good to know.

What kind of sealer did you use?

I would also seal the seam on the outside of the glove box liner while it is out. That way if it ever leaks again it won't run into the glove box....

Good point... Problem is I get concerned about where it's coming from. The edge where the arrow points to is the bottom of the windshield/back panel area on the inside and after looking along the edge I noiced more than one small opening.

The outside seam under the vent cowl wasn't sealed and I did notice water along the edge. In a hard rain like we had yesterday rain could easily have been blown in there.

I understand the concern. I think some of the water runs in from the top, down along the gasket on the sides and seeps to the inside. Those holes or slits are actually drain holes so the water doesn't sit on the top of the dash. I would imagine they were put there for the condensation on the inside of the windshield rather than leaks, but who knows...:)
