Ok Ive been riding like this for a week, its my daily, i have everything to slam the rear, but idk its growing on me, i get thumbs all the time, should i leave it or slam it? I would like to get bags so i could have both ways, eventually, but for now opinions? dont worry its a hoodride, i know....i like em rusty and 50 year old original sheetmetal is pretty cool.

Nice! If it mine I would lower the rear at least a little bit.

I agree... Perhaps a 2" drop block out back to even it out.

I like the rake myself, but I'm more of a muscle car guy.

Yeah, just a slight drop in the rear would look killer

Re: Slam or leave Raked

Usually i would say drop the rear as well but for some reason the rake fits your truck perfectly

Lower the back a little bit (2"-3") but keep it raked.

exactly what i was wanting to say also - drop it just enough so you have a LITTLE rake remaining. Perfecto!

Re: Slam or leave Raked

Tough call, the rake you now have is very similar to the ones we used during the 60's early seventies. I personally like the rake you have as it is now. But the important question is How do you like it. That is the correct way to do it.

Slam it and big wheel it. That thing would be sick on the ground with 18/20 combo, centerline smoothies and caps. oooooooeeeeeee! You will get more than thumbs up when you pull it in and lay it out. This has dropmember written all over it.

Heres what I accomplished with 65 bucks for the rear. The front was free... I cut the coils. The entire drop is static for now but soon I would like to go with an air ride system. I need to fix a few other things first but I gotta creep if ya know what I mean...

Excuse the crappy photoshop job, I spent about 5 minutes on it.

Leave it! I may not be a fan but stupid big rims just ruin everything. What you got jives perfectly.

Re: Slam or leave Raked

it looks fine as is. i have two trucks a a 63 and a 66. i lowered them both but the 63 is lower than the 66 and bottoms out over railroad tracks and and random bumps. the 66 looks like yours and is alot more fun to drive. just my two cents. Malibob, do you mean it could look like that with front and rear drop members and bags or just the front drop member? might be a good investment. that photo shop looks killer.

Re: Slam or leave Raked

Dropmember up front or z the frame.
Out back you could z, you could buy the porterbuilt notch or the KP notch for a little more rake. Bags of course, you cant ride that low. I personally like the centerline smoothies with caps- poverty caps or the like. They look awesome on these trucks. I am hoping to eventually see if a set will fit on my truck but think the 8" wide wheel will kill it. (That is one of the benefits of running a porterbuilt dropmember). There are more of course.

Re: Slam or leave Raked

I think I like the bigger wheels because the wheel wells on these trucks are so large. They fill them up nicely.

Re: Slam or leave Raked

How many coils did you cut and what did you do to the rear? I just scored a 64 longbed off of my father in law and I want to lower it.

Re: Slam or leave Raked

the rake fits the look of the truck but i may drop the rear an inch or so if mine. not enuff to level but a lil less rake.
