Anyone know these trucks
2 Attachment(s)
I'm looking for some info on these trucks. The tire combo is what I'm after. I've bought a new set of 15x7 & 15x8 smoothies, but I'm not sure on what tire size. I'm thinking 215/65 on the front, but unsure on the rear. The front is lowered about 5" and the rear is 6".
Thanks |

Im not a fan of 65 series tires but...;)
Heres my old 65. the tires seem similar. It had 215-75-15 fronts, and 255-70-15 rears. |
Re: Anyone know these trucks
I do believe truck number 1 above is now in germany with a member. My apologies (to him), but his name is on the tip o my tongue.
Having said that, I agree with grumpy - taller rubber really fills the wheelwells much better. i.e. 70 or 75 series. I have 235-75-15s on mine. To me, tall tires look better with stock height AND lowered trucks. If looking for skinny/fat - recommend Grumpy's combo - looks nice. If you want even wider in the rear, a 275-60-15 fills the wheel well nicely. |
Re: Anyone know these trucks
A set of 275/60's will barely fit with a 6 inch drop in the rear. You will have to roll the fender lip. In the front I wouldn't go with anything smaller in radious than a 275/60. In my opinion anything smaller looks to small in the wheel well.

Re: Anyone know these trucks
Good point about lowered trucks. 275/60 is cutting it very close - I was thinking of the ones I've seen that were stock height or only slightly lowered. I've never seen a 275/60 in the FRONT though - that would look humongous (in my pea brain) and way too wide. But, who knows - that's just my experience with em. But I understand what you're saying - in a way I agree - ANY 60 series looks too short in the front to me - but I believe a better answer than a 275/60 (just to get sufficient diameter) is to use a 70 or 75 series tire. You get the diameter without the very wide front tire a 275/60 would give you. I honestly would never have believed a 275/60 would even fit in the front. Hmm..

Re: Anyone know these trucks
I'm running the 275/60-15 all the way around on my Suburban. Personally I like the look, and there's plenty of room for them up front. Of course the only lowering done is the added weight of a big block up front. I agree, I wouldn't go with anything shorter than the 275/60's (28"). Here's a pic

Wasnt there a thread asking for pics and specific details about tire sizes and rim widths?
I thought I recalled posting several of my previous trucks and tire sizes. Its a hugely useful tool. Just me personally, I wouldnt ever consider running anything wider than a 6" wheel up front, and a 205-215 75 15. Just my preference. Even the beater shop truck Im throwing together now has 15x6 and 15x8 with 215-75-15 and 245-70-15s(which are getting changed to 255-70s) Its currently in garage torn apart getting airride installed..;) |
Re: Anyone know these trucks
I'm same boat i got 245 60 in rear and looking at probably a 205-215 65 in the front. With 15x7 with 3.5in backspacing all the way around but mine lays flat on the rocker i have to stay around a 26in tall tire with the stock spindals and zed frame.i may rehoop my rears with a 10 in rim with 6in back spacing i think i could go to 295 50's trucks been in pieces awhile but im pretty sure that's what i measured anyways? lol

Thanks for the info guys. I'm currently running 205/75 all the way around, but I'm wanting a shorter/wider tire in the front and wider in the back. My other problem is trying to find a 215/70 & 255/70 in the same series of tires. I can find the same brand but they consider a 215/70 a passanger car tire and a 255/70 a truck/suv tire. If I drop down to a 60/65 series tire that opens up alot of options. Grumpy your truck is real close to the look I'm after, but I would love to make contact with the owner of the blue truck in the first pic.
I'm also changing over to 15x7 & 15x8 smoothies painted flat white to match the top. Thanks again. |
Re: Anyone know these trucks
look at BFGoodrich ta's ---front 205-60/215-60, rear 255-70 should have the same tread and side walls. white letters in of course and painted/dyed flat black.

Re: Anyone know these trucks
Thanks for the info guy's. I looked at a truck today with 215/65 on the front and 235/70 on the rear. It looked really good, and I can get both tires in either a firestone indy or a primewell 860. Thanks again for the help.
