1962? C40 ascross the scales

Today this C40 came in ascross the scales.... I dont believe I have seen a C40 before, just can't remember for sure. I has a fairly new carb, radio delete plate, and 10 hole wheels. I will steal the carb and already got the radio plate. I thought it was kinda neat!

I think it is considered a one and a half ton. Pretty rare . They even made them recently and the were called HD 3500. A little later on ,they made a c40 on the med truck platform [like the c50-c60 ,the 40 had lighter springs]

I was a winch truck, It has some kind of Caterpillar Equipment pieces sitting on the back. When people sell ascross the scales they pile all they can on, in and around the vehicle!

Right, it's a '62. They made them for what I believe was 3 years, '60, '61 and '62. I believe the GVW on them were 14,000. There is still a lot of good parts left there.

Bill

I wasn't going to.... I only restore 64-66, I dont have room to store much of the other years and the Boss doesn't care for any 60-66 trucks. they dont really want the hassle of selling parts, they just buy and crush. I try and save all the stuff I can, but I have run out of space.

Thanks for posting photo! Would have liked to seen this truck in its prime earning its keep. Do I see a special order original green 327 under the hood?

If you get a chance to pull the emblems with the 40 on them I'd love to have them! Pretty pretty please!?

Is the grille as nice as it looks in the photos? It was probably well protected with that bumper/guard in place. Thanks for continuing to post these photos. It's amazing how much stuff is still out there.

I really didnt look to close at the grille ( I do 64-66, but appreciate all 60-66) there is a grille like this in the back of a 64 that look pretty nice too. I will takes pics of it and post them.

Can the whole truck be bought before being crushed?

probably, we would just have to weigh it and it would be 300 dollars a ton. probably weigh out upwards close to 1000.00

Lots of metal there with the iron bed and everything
