Got my new exhaust on: One Word...DAMN!
All I can say is WOW! These things are NICE! It took 2 hours for the exhaust shop to get my exhaust exactly like I wanted it (only charged me $80) partially because it was tricky, but partially because the guy who was working on my truck had to answer phones to stupid people asking the same question "What time do you close?" So...here's what I had done..
I had mandrel bent Hedman X-Tensions put on after the head collectors. These are 3" flange with 2½" pipe, REAL nice quality. The guy at the exhaust shop had to shorten up the drivers side one a bit, because it was hitting the tranny crossmember, no biggie though, easily done and it still looks like it's never been cut! So, on to the next side. On the passenger side, he had to cut off the S bend portion, and lengthen the straight part, so the bend would clear the crossmember. Again, perfectly clean welds. Then on to the mufflers. They tucked my Hooker Maximum Flow's up nicely under the bed and put nice hangers on em. (With rubber isolators, so they won't rattle, and sound like a$$.) I shoulda snapped some pictures while my truck was up on the lift, so yall could see. but I'm sure later today I'll be able to snap some pictures off for yall. As for the sound...well..at idle, it's got a nice little rumble to it, even at cruise it's still pretty mild...but lemme tell ya, once you go WOT...all I can say is DAMN!! That thing sounds like a full on racecar! MEAN MEAN MEAN! I think I did notice a difference too, for one, when I went and done a burnout last night, it had a FAT cloud, and it lasted until almost 3rd gear! Then also, when I was driving around 40mph, and punched it, it seemed to have more kick to it. All in all, for a grand total of $225, I'm QUITE impressed! |
i wanna hear the difference between the aerochambers and the max flows
|
I'll record a clip later today of my maximum flows. I dunno how the aerochambers sound though. The guy at the shop, when he seen that the mufflers were hookers, he's all "Ohh cool, I've been wanting to hear how these sound." Then I'm all "Well, these aren't the AeroChambers, if that's the ones you wanna hear. These are the Maximum Flow's, which are basically a straight through design." These Maximum Flow's are supposed to be pretty quiet up until WOT actually...
|
SWEET...Yeah get us some pics and sound clips
|
The aero chambers are basically straight through too. ;)

[B]I think.....now you got me wondering ...lol Im pretty Well, with the Aerochambers, you SHOULDN'T have been able to, they're more of a chambered muffler, like a flowmaster. You might have gotten Maximum Flow's if you can look right through em. ;) |
Here is a section view of the aero chambers

LOL!!Guys I really dont smoke weed haha no need....Im enough of a freak as it is. haha
|
Yes, you can see through Aerochambers, clear as day.
And, I'm not smoking anything. I think smoking any kind of tobacco is a sign of weakness, most especially weed. Tom, you need to lay off of the junk too. It's only going to fry what's left of you brain cells. |
Good!! I knew I wasnt going crazy!! THanks for clearing that up Mike. :) I could have sworn that I could see straight through it when I got them. :D
IM NOT CRAZY AFTER ALL!! lol Yeah...Tom....I think your already too far gone..better be careful!! lol |
If you have the center in/out, you can see straight through. I bought the offset in/center out and you can almost see straight through. Still need to get them installed, just as soon as the 700 is finished and back in.
|
I'm wanting a set so bad!! I've got these Flows and love the Aero's much better. Hopefully I can get some soon along with other items if something in the works pans out.
|
So whats the better of the two (Aero and Max Flow)?
Im talking sound and performance? Im thinking the Max Flows performae better, but are they louder? Do they sound different then the regular aero's? I got a little savings going for exhuast and want to here some opinions on the two. |
Well, on my Maximum Flow's, at idle and cruise they're moderately loud, nothin major. But when I mash the pedal to the floor...HOLY GOD! It's basically like running straight pipes at WOT I imagine...
