72 3/4ton 4x4 BIG BLOCK Help. plz n thx

Hey fellas im currently working on my 72 Chevy 3/4ton 4x4. I pulled the small block out and working on trying to fit a big block in. i tried the motor mounts off the small block and the oil pan rubs the cross member. ive tried some other mounts as well. My question is how are ya'll getting these big blocks to fit in these trucks? I have searched this and having had much luck. Thanks a million guys i really appriciate it :chevy:

On a 4X4 the motor sits back farther on the frame....so I believe one of the things you have to do is use the 2wd motor mount location.....I have not done this but I am sure others who have will chime in for ya....good luck

Get the cross member, mounts, and clams from a donor 73+ big block truck. I am doing that now. I put a 427 with a th400 in my 1972 3/4 ton 4x4. Ended up moving the engine ahead about 2 inches.

i would try a different oil pan first. i have installed big blocks before with no mount changes. Some oil pans have a long sump and will not clear

My 70 CST S/S was originally equipped with a SBC 307 motor. I still have the original CM too with a crate LS6 BBC in it (stock oil pan). What I can tell you as well is that there should be two sets of motor mount holes on the frame...one for BB and another for SB. The motor mounts for a BB will have to be used to raise the motor sufficiently to clear the CM. I think they are the forward mounting holes. some BBC oil pans had the sumps in different locations so you may also want to check that too. That is what I have from my experience.
