LooK at This Picture - Need some advice on Top radiator hose
1 Attachment(s)
I am putting ac on the tuck in a few days. will be running a sanden compressor. It will mount just above the power steering pump with three holes in head. I don't think the compressor is going to clear the top radiator hose?(See Pict) Any Suggestions? I just purchased a new aluminum radiator so swaping for different syle radiator is not really an option. Motor is a 350.

Re: LooK at This Picture - Need some advice on Top radiator hose
I have to end up making my own upper radiator hose from 1 1/2" OD exhaust tubing most of the time. I use scrap bends and straight sections to weld up a hard line similar to building headers. I use silicone hose ends for the connectors at the radiator and water neck. Here is the one I did for my race car, and the upper and lowers I just had coated for the C10 between my zoomies.

I would suggest taking a look at a upper hose for a '73-'87 truck with A/C. It will be too long, but you may be able to trim it to fit your truck.

Another option might be to replace the thermostat housing with a straight model and switch to either a flex hose or possibly one from a 73-76 ½ ton, Napa part # NBH 7595. An earlier thread suggested this would fit a straight neck/driver side upper radiator connection with some trimming. (I've never tried it myself).

x-2 Or you can loosen your clamps and give your hose a twist to the right counter clockwise, that will raise it up enough to clear the compressor, lie this

Re: LooK at This Picture - Need some advice on Top radiator hose
A trick an old timer told me about once was to take a wire coat hanger, start from from either the radiator or the motor and work your way back by bending it to the shape you want and then take it to NAPA because "they have the largest selection" and compare it to hoses hanging on the wall.
