Longhorn Bed Extension Seam: "To Fill or not to Fill"
Well now the cab and part of the front clip are painted for my Longhorn, I started looking at my box a little closer. I have decided I really don't like the weird aluminum fuel doors they used on them, and when they installed mine, they cut right in the middle of the seam. It also looks like they used a a jig saw as it is a very poor cut. I have some fuel doors from a newer ford box I'm thinking about welding in my bed sides. But, since they are right in the middle of the seam where the Longhorn extension goes on, it would look really out of place. I'm thinking about just welding the seam and making it smooth. What are everyone's thoughts on this? The truck is so modified it really won't hurt it, and IMO it will be funny watching people trying to figure out why it's so long.
Here is what my bed sides look like where they hacked the holes for them. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...n/DSC00498.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...n/DSC00462.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...n/DSC00461.jpg |

I'd weld it up too since you're not doing a 100% resto. Will look cleaner that way.

Re: Longhorn Bed Extension Seam: "To Fill or not to Fill"
i voted for the quirkiness and odd look of the original design! Yes, I think GM shoulda welded it up, but now it's "iconic".... :) How should I know, I'm a swb kinda guy....

Re: Longhorn Bed Extension Seam: "To Fill or not to Fill"
I always wanted to leave the seam, but that was when I was going to use my original box that didn't have the holes hacked in it. If I don't like it later, I do still have a virgin box I guess.
