Replacing Front u joint

What do i have to undo to replace front u joint on 69 Chevy C10 307 with a R700? Is it enough to just unbolt the center drive shaft support and the front part of the drive shaft will slide far enough up on the front spline of the rear drive shaft so the front yoke will come out of the transmission or do I have to remove the entire drive shaft?

first you need to mark both ofthe drive shafts for location to help preserve the ballance, a line from the shaft to the carrier bering works best, then remove rear shaft from the axle and slide it off the front shaft, remove the carrier bering bolts, then you wil be able to slide the front shaft out of the trans.

if you dont mark the shafts first you wlii end up with a vibration in the shafts and ruin the carrier.

its best to replace all your U-joins as well as the carrier while you have it out just my $.02
