New guy, carb problem

Hey there guys
Just bought my first project about a month ago and have been working on it every chance I get. It's 1970 c10 stepside with the L6 250 and manual transmission.
I have so many questions for you folks.
First off, how do the gears work? I noticed that its not the same as the standard transmission truck I drive today. What gear is what? And rverse

And another important question, more like I'm asking a favor, is if anybody has a picture of the throttle/ choke linkage of they can send it my way. I just rebuilt the carb but lost the linkage. I think it's called the fast idle linkage/rod. I want to try to make another one. Or better yet if anybody knows where I can buy one that would be awesome.

Thanks guys!
Glad and proud to be here

Welcome Airsepulveda!!
I have a 1969 C10 longbed with the 250 L6 and manual tranny my 1st project as well.

Gears are as follows:
1st - Pull toward you and down
2nd - push away and up
3rd - push away and down
Reverse is Pull toward and up.

Found a youtube video for ya too:

I have a autochoke so I can't help ya on that one.

Hey man thanks for the welcome!

I watch the video because I had no idea what you were talking about.
Mines totally different. The gears are on the floor of the truck. Not sure if it was originally like the one in the video and converted but I have a shifter on the floor of my truck

If it is the SM-465 top loader the gears are:

Reverse: to the far right and down
First: to the left and up (granny low)
Second: to left and down
Third: to the right and up
Fourth: to the right and down

SM-465 trannys have what is a called a granny low.

Wow that helps alot

That one looks more like mine.
I just rebuilt the carb and it turns on on the first crank no problems. I just dont wanna move it that much cus the brakes don't really work that great.
I don't have that linkage either :(

But thanks man that really cleared it up
