Front End
 

Im just curious, i had my front end rebuilt last november and ive noticed an awful lot of squeaking on the control arms and such... all the zerks that could take grease are greased, steering parts are all greased too, anyone else having this problem? I tried some of this liquid silicone stuff from Oreilly but that helped for like 2 days or so.... any advice? ideas? thoughts? Im guessing its the u bolts rubbing on the arm shafts or the bushings could be, i thought about marine grease on the bolts/shafts, oh well thanks for the help!

Did some zerks not take grease? Are the cap nuts tight on the control arms? Are the u-bolts tight?

Are you using Poly or rubber? I have heard that the silicone on poly only makes it worse.

yeah everythings checked out tight but ill go check 'em out again to be double sure, using rubber as far as the bushings go.....

The only bushing that could be rubber or poly are going to be the sway bar bushings. The control arm bushings are metal, with a rubber seal on the inside of the arms. check your shocks and sway bar bushings. If your sure the squeek is off the front end, the check your rad support and cab mounts. It could be off the rear, which would be the control arms or panhard rod if you have coils or the leaf spring bushings if you have those.:bowtie:

good point slam, the swaybar bushings are brand new from the rebuild, however any mount bushings for the body are shot as far as i know. the front end body will have work done sometime down the road. i am most certain its coming from the control arm shafts, ill do some checking again in the morning to see whats up, thanks!

My guess is the control arm bushings......Zoomy

Is your control arm shaft caps screwed in to tight, or maybe the shaft is to far forward, or to the rear, bottoming out in the cap? Just my $.02 :confused:

I've been wondering about the same thing. After rebuilding my front suspension I wasn't able to get the grease to pass thru to the rubber grease boots on the back side (upper and control arms lower torque tube and cross shaft). I checked to be sure the bushing were not bottomed out on the shafts by removing the grease zerk and inserting a paper clip into the hole till it bottomed on the shaft. I tought maybe there has to be some wear on the theads of the shaft and bushings before the grease will make it thru. In my case both were new.It will be a while before mine is on the road. Maybe someday.
