jfortvalley, I have been told that you can ship greyhound bus cheap/cheaper than the trucking companies. You have to drop off and pick up a there bus terminals.

The best way to ship fenders,is Greyhound or Fedex.you would be surprised how close in price they both are. i ship fenders frnt, rear all the the time all accross the US. Greyhound you cango on there website go under package express & fedex give them a call. 1-800 gofedex. I have a nice solid Pass fender. in Cali $125 Plus shippinng. clic on the link for pictures.

The big dog is getting harder to ship on as they are closing down a number of the real terminals and stopping at mini marts or cafes.

I've shipped an Elkie tailgate and a 51 Merc bumper via Fed ex among the larger things I have shipped by them.

Hit the local furniture for a heavy duty box that the fender will fit in and then fill the box around it with Styrofoam pellets and blocks to pad it. put double layers of cardboard around any sharp corners that might cut a hole in the side of the box.

Some of these big flat screen tv's might have a box that the tailgate will fit in. Again, pad it will with foam pellets or blocks as I have never had a problem with damage on parts that were well packed in that stuff.

Use plenty of that stranded packaging tape and maybe make some handles out of the tape so that who ever handles the boxes can get hold of them easily.

I shipped a TF passengers door from LA California to Bellingham Washington two years ago for $30.00. It arrived in good condition and no hassle.

I have used foam pipe insulation from Home Depot around sharp corners.
