Mirrprs - Threaded holes ?
 

I just got a pair of period correct mirrors for my new (to me) truck and am curious about the mounting piece of it. The bolts I received (3) doen't seem to be metal screws at all, and in fact look like they are to be threard into a nut. Should there be holes with welded nuts in behind the door panel for the original mirrors? I took off the interior door panel so i can peak into the backside of the door and there are holes there that have been brazed over to fill them.. but i don't see any evidence of nuts being welded in place in the past.

Post some pictures. What year is this truck?

But, on my truck (1950) the mirror is held in with bolts and nuts. They are the stock sytle on the cab infront of the door not on the door so that probably don't help you. I would expect that all the others would be bolt and nut though.

Here are some pictures of the screws that came with the mirror. I also included a picture of othe mirror that's on there now.. and it's useless.

The drivers door should have captive nuts for the mirror but it sounds like someone removed them. The passenger side door usually never had them. You will have to drill the holes and use nuts and washers to mount your mirrors. I just went through this a couple of weeks ago. Fortunately the nuts were still there on my drivers door but I had to drill the passenger door. You can see where the holes go from inside the door.
