Tweaked my frame up front. How do I bend it straight in my garage with no jig?

Last June I ran into a drunk in my barn fresh 67 long bed and tweaked the frame about 2" higher up front. Since then I have gathered the parts to replace all the body panels damaged and I now have come to the task to get the frame back within specs.

Basically I'm working with hand tools, tranny jacks, and air tools. No torches or welding. Is there anyway to do this with common jacks, weight, and chains? Can a frame be pulled into spec?

I have a friend with a torch should I just call him and throw him a case of beer?

Here's my issue:

Thanks guys!

Ps: space between the rails is factory. The drivers side was tweaked straight up.

Spend the money to put on it a frame machine, its the only way to get them back straight. A torch will weaken the metal, could cause it to fail.

^^ I agree. I just had my '71 K10 frame straightened in the front last week after being hit by a drunk. I had it done by a frame specialist who learned the trade on old pickups like ours. He did an excellent job and it cost me about $240

I agree, i would take it to a shop that knows what they are doing and will get it perfect again. I tried missing a deer and hit an oak stump last december and tweaked my frame pretty bad. I took it to a dealership with very good equipment and the frame portion of my bill was only $390 with 7.5 hrs labor. It is like new, you would never be able to tell anything happened to it.

I wish you closer I will have my machine emptied tommorrow by 8 am. The thing about frame work is they will not let you wacth cause they don't want anyone to know how much time it takes. The main time is getting the machine loaded and all tied down. The actual pulling time for that would be very little

See I brought it to two shops and was quoted $900 and $1100! So am I to assume they were trying to hustle me?

Glad I asked you guys!

Sounds like they are trying to make a quick buck. Try a few more shops.

I know we are in different regions and that makes a big money difference but I think you should be looking at less than 450. Around here it would be more like 300

Totally agree, there's no reason for them to completely tie the truck down to pull that. A few chains in the rear and some blocks if wood up front and it can be pulled in no time.

I'd buy a donor frame and swap the body,... before I paid that much.

in the old days we used to secure a chain to the frame rail the other end to a huge old oak tree and backup real quick

had mixed results with that method when i was young// but it was on $10-$15dollar cars and trucks back then

I agree, maybe tell the shops you take it to for estimates on pulling your frame you have $300.00 to spend. some shop will be happy to do it for you. Twenty minute job for most shops. cheers, Pat
