49 door handel
 

spins around 360. wont open door . is it the handel or latch. inside door handel will open the door. any ideas thanks

The handle has a square end on the shaft I would say that it is rounded.....Wore out

Most likely that square shaft is rounded off or the maching hole in the latch is rounded out.

On the square end as the one in the add is junk and probably worse than what someone would have on their truck now. I hope no one on here has the one in the above link for sale as it will not work the way it is.

You should be able to take your out by taking the screw behind the handle and the one that is behind the weatherstrip of the door out and pulling it out. New repro ones aren't that expensive or you might be able to weld the square part up on yours and file it back square.

also the handel sags down at a 20 degree angle. is that due to the worn shaft also

Yes. or it could be a worn spring in the lock.latch. It gives the push button boys something to razz us twist handle guys about.
