Name that part!!!

This is a piece of linkage mounted to the exhaust manifold of the 68 C10 I pulled home last week. The truck was originally a 307 2bbl and this 6 was swapped in... the carb number is 7027011 so the replacement engine could very well be a 67 250 (dont know car or truck and I havent done the stamping ID yet).... The 68 still retains its 3speed OD as its trans and the harness that connects to the rear of the unknown linkage did trail down into the trans tunnel but was disconnected (had a two prong female connector).... So any guesses as to what the linkage on the manifold was for???? My only guess is that it was out of another vehicle that had OD behind the 250.... So whad'ya think????

I "think" that is the kickdown linkage for an auto.

I'm thinking it for the factory O/D. My buddy has a '63 F@rd wagon with a factory 3 speed with O/D and it has the same type of wiring going up to the throttle... I believe its to downshift out of overdrive at WOT.

I just did a google search and a few wiring diagrams come up for Borg Warners. You'll see that the diagrams do refer to a "kickdown switch" at the throttle linkage.
