1970 2wd Blazer help
Ok Fellas...looking at a 1970 2wd blazer here for sale... have known about for a while but was always more into trucks. Wife and I are expecting our second child in late September and our first born is 16 months. We want something we can all ride to the car shows in instead of having to take two vehicles like we do now. This blazer is a factory cst 4spd with tach and is a bronze color. I know they were only 985 2wd 70 blazers produced but does these options make it extra rare? It has parchement interior. It needs a repaint, comes with NOS grill and NOS front bumper. Has double wall top and extra single wall top comes with. Trying to sale some of my other projects to buy this got a 62 belair 2 door post for sale and a 72 GMC short fleet 4wd for sale plus all my parts.....really minimul on rust...rust in top of passenger windshield corner and radiator support/fender cup on pass side from battery and thats all I really see....sorry no pics but because of the deal I'm trying to work on this if I would have snapped pics was affraid to appear to anxious...so sorry...but based on what I said...what do you all think???

do you plan to restore it right away or drive it for awhile? either way, is the price something you are comfortable with? i'd so go for it.

Re: 1970 2wd Blazer help
I'm biased since I own a 70 CST 2wd...but I say do it as long as the pocketbook can handle it.

Re: 1970 2wd Blazer help
Yes it can be driven as is has been changed to 5-lug and disc brakes, is in primer now...the guy took the 4spd out and put a 700r4 in it...fine for now but I would want to put the 4spd back in it, not a fan of 700r4's...was lowered by heating the coils, that will need fixed has a brakeing issue (will probably rebuild anyway) guys says he has 6500 in it but would take 6000...if I can come up with it without affecting our budget and taking out a loan I will do it just a little short right now...but its not advertised and not many people even know of the vehicle and its whereabouts. He said he doesn't intend to sale so maybe I have some time..would like to do a frame off maybe next year with tax returns and put back somewhat original keep the drop, and 5-lug set-up...just paint original except add upper moldings and shine it up with some rims

Re: 1970 2wd Blazer help
If it has been modified, all the rareness is gone IMO. What ever rust you can see, expect twice as much once you dig into it. Windshield frames are getting hard to find and there are not any aftermarket replacement parts.
If this is going to be a car-show cruiser, ditch the hard tops and get a soft top. Kids love Blazers! |
