Longhorns

How rare are the Longhorns? Do they hold any value, if in decent shape? Any input would be appreciated as I may pick one up.

i can't speak to how rare they are. If you like em, then you like em, but I wouldn't buy one JUST because I wanted a rare truck. But generally speaking, it's worth more than an otherwise identical truck that isn't a longhorn. As I review this post, I can see it was zero help... :)

All depends. Rare... some are. Desirable, well that also depends. If you want a bigger truck with a HD chassis then look at a Longhorn. It was built on a 133" wb one ton chassis and sprung as either a 3/4 or 1 ton. Fleetside wood beds only. Many lived most of their lives under a camper and have typical camper mods. Aux fuel tanks are very often found. Equipment levels run from stripper 6cyl/3ottt to Cheyenne Supers with about everything. Values run similar to the more regular truck models, but there is a lot smaller market for them. What are you looking at? Lowest production were the '68 C/30s the best were probably the '71-72 mid to high end optioned trucks. More info is just a request away.....

1968;
C/20 1902
C/30 213

1969;
C/20 8797
C/30 2457

1970;
C/20 5281
C/30 1404

1971;
C/20 3331
C/30 1479

1972;
C/20 3328
C/30 2450

Grand total of;
C/20 22631
C/30 8003

Combined, total of 30634 Longhorns built 68 - 72
No telling how many GMC 'Longhorns' came off the line though.

Re: Longhorns

They are a low production model by comparison to others and sought after be quite a few. The value is really no more than any other C/20 on a comparable truck. I feel a C/30 Longhorn is the one to have,if Longhorns are what you seek as a collector's item,because those are the "only" Fleetside C/30s as well as being a notch more of a truck.

If it is an online ad, I'd like to see it for a data point. Do you have any pictures or links you are willing to post?
