Neutral safety switch wiring help

This weekend, I'm converting my truck to automatic, and I'm wondering what to do about the neutral safety switch, and reverse lights. Is there a way to wire these up, or do I just ignore it, and let it fly the way it is?

Re: Neutral safety switch wiring help

Are you changing the steering column to one that incorporates the automatic shifter? If you are, the neutral safety and reverse light switches are built into the column.

If you are not going to swap columns, then you must be using an aftermarket floor shifter, and any decent floor shifter will come with (or have available) neutral safety and reverse light switches.

Connect the wires from your existing neutral safety and reverse light switches to the new switches (either column or shifter mounted) and you're good to go.

Use a factory service manual to find out where your existing neutral safety and reverse light switches are located if you're not sure.

I am switching to an auto column. I know where the back up switch on the 4 speed is as well. the wiring for that runs outside the cab, in the engine compartment "with" the engine harness. Do I just reroute that wiring back into the cab?
