Rear end change for '64 C 10
I am preparing to drive from California to Louisiana and want to take my truck, but as it is now it is not fit for freeway driving. I've heard that there is a rear end off a Chevelle that will make my original four speed with compound low something closer to a true four speed. Can anyone give me any hints as to the exact model I should be looking for? What will have to go into making the changes? My truck is a two-wheel drive Fleetside with the long bed and the original 235 straight six. I want to change as little as possible. Thanks!!!

never heard of a chevelle rearend being used..... you want 100% bolt on? look for a rearend from a 64-70 chevy with 3:07s.... should be able to cruze at 70-80 fine

I have a 64' and I put a 72 model 3.07 in it. Direct bolt on. But I had to use the 72's track arm because on the 64, the track arm is mounted on a bracket that is welded to the rear end. On the 72, the track arm is mounted to directly to the rear end housing.
