I picked up a 58 swb fleetside a couple of months ago and started thrashin on it so I thought I'd share the build with board.

(Hopeful) future plans include: air ride, IFS, 4link, LS motor ,Accuair, Vintage air, and a few other nice touches.

Since I couldn't find the exact truck I wanted for my budget I had to find the closest thing to it. I wanted a big window swb fleetside but ended up settling for a small window. So of course the first thing I did was convert it to a big window.

Here's some pics

I put in some new lower cab corners while I was at it, then I adjusted the door and cab corner gap by slicing the the full length of the cab corner, moving it back about 1/16" and welded it back together. Then bodyworked it all and primed it all up.

Nice work. Love the big window conversion.

It's surprising to many people how far off the stampings were for these trucks. The centerline of my hood was almost 1/4" off center in the front and neither of the upper body lines matched the doors. And both of the passenger side doors I tried had a twist built in which kicked the top rear out by about 1/8".

Got some more stripping, priming, and bodywork accomplished this weekend. I also got the new rear window seal from Steele Rubber co., so I threw the back glass in the truck after I gave the rear of the cab the final prime.

I like it. Your BBW conversion does look much more involved than mine was. Nice job!

Say bro, what's been up? Watching this '58 come to life. Do you already have your LS? If not, I may have something for you. Let me know.

It was more involved than I originally thought it was going to be, took me about 50 hours of labor.

COOL TRUCK!

Thanks. Not going to have all the Dropmember stuff for atleast 4 weeks or so, then the fun will start.

I should have this thing sprayed all one color in a few weeks or so then I'll post some new pics.

Been a while but I've made progress. Since the last update I've completed a ton of bodywork. I replaced the lower hinge pillars, installed a couple of patch panels, shaved the mirrors, the fuel filler, stake hole pockets, tailgate chains and straightened several panels on the truck.

My front and rear Porterbuilt stuff showed up so I've been busy painting all that stuff satin black. I should have some of it installed in the next couple of weeks. Here's a few pics.
