? about stereo installs
So in my suburban i have a broken stock radio. Today I got a new Alpine deck and speakers and a amp. I bought the abs kick panels for 6.5's and I'm gonna mount the deck in the glove box. My problem is where to mount the 6x9's ? I was thinking about cutting holes in the rear panel but don't know if I wanna do that, also thought about 6x9 boxes but thats kind of ghetto. Was wondering if anybody had any pics of there stereos and speakers in a Suburban?

Re: ? about stereo installs
I'm no where near ready to put in any kind of stereo in my Panel yet but I have been planning what to do when I am ready.
I plan to use hidden audio and mount the radio/cd/mp3 etc under the dash. My speakers will be... Likely 4" speakers in the kick panels. A 6x9 in the dash (center pointed up near windshield). not totally sure about this one, will have to wait and do a mock up to see if I like it or not. Then when I put in the head liner, I want to install speakers along the the roof line from front to back. This pic is a bad example but it kind of shows what I mean. http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/...1971781807.jpg Mine will run front to back rather than side to side and will but much longer but you get the idea. And I think 3 (one behind the driver/passengers head. One middle, and one at the rear should be sufficient. I saw an old Willys wagon done this way once and it made a great impression on me. I figure I will take inspiration from it and create something similar. Just throwing out an idea, maybe it will spark a bit of creativity. |
