87 electric fuel pump ?

I got an 87 chevy v20 4wd with 350 throttle body in it. I think the fuel pump or something is bad I turn the key and it'll kick on like it wants to build pressure then sounds like its let's fuel come back to it I can hear like a water fall of fuel coming back into tank. I turnes the ignition off and turned it back nothin pump didn't turn on nor the did the fasten seat belt light on the dash. usually when pump does turn on it happens when there's the buzzin noise for the seat belt and the fasten seat belt light comes on any one know what's the cause of this ?

The rubber hose that connects the fuelpump to the pickup is rotten and letting the fuel run back into the tank. The crappy fuel we have now will it eat up the old hose.

Are you sure they are rubber? my hoses on my 87 are all braided at the frame rail. I guess the sending unit hoses have to be rubber. makes me want to check mine.

Positive. Only the ones inside the tank. I had to replace them on my 87 when i bought it back for the second time.
Do yourself a favor when you drop the tank go ahead and replace the pump or you will be doing it again soon! Don't ask me how i know.;)

Just to make sure we are on the same page. Its inside the tank where the pump attaches to the pickup tube.

Unbolt the tank brackets from inside of the frame, 4 bolts on each bracket. Then drop the tank down far enough to reach up on top of it to unhook the lines. The drivers side has plenty of slack, the passengers is a different story.
Best if the tank is pretty much empty.
