Lil troubleshooting help

need a little help pointing me in the right direction.

TBI 350. had dead battary I left the key on all night last week. Then put a cheap little charger on it all day. had enough juice to fire it up. backed it out of the garage. left the charger on it for a while. Started it back up to put it back in the garage. It started spiting and spuddering, wouldn't stay running, final died and would not restrart. It just cranked and cranked. I checked the tbi no fuel at all from the injectors. (pump is running) shot a little ether down the TBI still nothing. checked spark. no spark. figured this was all from a week/dead battery. So I got a brand new one. still no spark or fuel. so far I chased it down to no power on either end of the ignition fuse in the fuse box. My mind has gone blank at the moment and can not think what would be causing no ignition and no fuel. unless it wont inject fuel with out a ignition source any help would be greatfull

It sounds like your ignition module went out.

have you checked for spark? put a screw driver in the end of the plug wire and drape it over the valve cover or other grounded part?

Re: Lil troubleshooting help

I am assuming this is an 87-91 RV series and not a TBI conversion on an earlier CK.

No power on either side of the IGN fuse means you don't have power coming from the ignition switch.

It cranks so both fusible links are good.

My first guess is the ignition switch has failed. Buzz the pink wire from the IGN1 terminal on the ignition switch plug to the IGN and ECM1 fuses on your fuse panel. Then check both RED wires for 12v at the ignition switch.

The HEI BAT wire and the IGN & ECM1 fuses get power from IGN1 terminal on the ignition switch. No 12v at BAT IGN & ECM1 = no spark or fuel.
