Project Longsleeper
Hello to all. This will be about my 68 LWB C10 that I purchased March 2011. I was not planning on doing any body work to it since it still had all the original paint still on it. But my dad was staying on my to paint it so I decided to make it happen. Here is the truck on day one at the previous owners home. This truck came from around Hope Arkansas. Can only think it was purchased new at Hawkins Chevrolet Company in Hot Springs, Ark. due to the rear step bumper having that on it.
http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h9...10/68Cheby.jpg I have a 64 C10 SWB that i have owned for 22 years, got it on my 16th birthday. I will be doing a second restoration on it starting this fall when all the wasp die off. :dohh: |
Re: Project Longsleeper
This is the day I drove it home, amazing that everything but the radio and reverse lights worked on the truck, all the gauges, heater, etc.

Re: Project Longsleeper
Decided to take it to the shop, this was last summer. The truck had rust in the rocker panels and below the battery box, other wise it is very solid.

Sanding it for the paint. http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h9...rillepaint.jpg Gray is the color, did not like the white that much. |
Re: Project Longsleeper
Here are the doors RRC. Got them cut in and assembled. These doors used to shut so easy, but the new seals made them a firm close now.

Re: Project Longsleeper
After running a 7lb radiator cap for a year due to the stock radiator having a couple of tiny holes in it. I decided to upgrade my cooling system to handle my engine upgrade that I am working on now.

Re: Project Longsleeper
We have decided to respray some of the truck due to new found dings and dry spots in the clear and some cracked primer under the paint. Not trying to make it a show truck, I drive this truck and haul stuff with it. Already scratched the paint on the tailgate but thats what its for.
I have plans to install some chrome bumpers, finish building the 468 big block that in the garage and lower the truck. Im sure I will change the wheels out and put some meet under the back. Did just install some new pedals and chrome pieces around the grille this week. I am also doing away with the 3 on the tree, for a 700R4 that I have. Im sure I will have to build it up to handle the big block torque. |

Re: Project Longsleeper
Thank you, around here no one wants the long beds. I have found another 70 C10 LWB that is running but needs to be restored for $300, its in about as good a shape as this one was when I got it.
