Truck tilts-Differences??
 

I'm looking at putting a tilt in my 70 GMC - after reading a few threads I'm confused as to what I should look for. Some say that true truck tilts for our trucks only appeared in 69 or later trucks. Is that true?
My other question -- Is there any year truck tilt that WILL NOT bolt right into my 70'?

The truck tilt did appear sometime in model year 69. That column is basicly the same thru model year 72. The van tilts that everyone speaks of is in the vans thru the 70's into the 80 or 81 year. As long as it is in a van and does not have a key it is a van tilt . Now motorhomes have a tilt that is very simalar to the truck tilt and they were in GM chassis motorhomes thru 86 that I know for sure as I have a 86 m.h. and it has that tilt In the FAQ section there are several threads on what to do to prepare the van column to be ready for truck useage.

I would just get a van column from the local pick your part, there cheap and easy to find. The neutral safety switch mod is simple if you have a dremel. I know for me it doesn't make sense to spend several hundred dollars on a true truck tilt, when the average person wont be able to tell the difference, unless you open the hood and they look at the shaft length.
