78 gmc factory assembly manual?
 

Does anyone know where I can get a FACTORY ASSEMBLY MANUAL for a
1978 GMC, Sierra 15 (Straight 6 motor) Pickup Truck?

I know we are mostly talking about trucks here, but, I would also like a FACTORY ASSEMBLY MANUAL for a 1998 Dodge Ram Van, 3500 Series?

Just to save time, I am talking about the FACTORY ASSEMBLY MANUAL
(Not to be confused with the Service Manuals)
that GM provided to plant workers to put the car/truck together from A-Z.

The only square body factory assembly manual I have ever seen was for 1982. Keith may have more info but my guess is that most were thrown out when the production year ended.

Correct. I was laying back to see if anyone had anything, but we always threw them away at the end of the model year.

I've heard rumors of a 1979 assembly manual that survived but have yet to see it.

The parts and illustration books are close enough for me to an assembly book, illustrations are a great help.

I bought mine at a closed GM dealer auction but you see them on ebay time to time.

I know that this is an old thread, but if factory assembly manuals are rare or non-existent, what is your go-to source when you need to see how things were assembled on these trucks? I'm trying to reassemble a truck and having a hard time with some of the small parts I took off years ago.

Parts books have quite a few illustrations.
Look in my signature... Six books for 1973-1991.

I have one of the 1982 "assembly manuals" I bought from the manual mafia on evilbay for about $55 or $65. Some of the pages look like they are from a second or third hand photocopy.

Just to clarify - there wasn't a specific GMC assembly manual.

Chevy and GMC were both included in the same manual.
