opinions if this is junk? 700r4 with warranty

whats your thoughts on it? i guess its a buisness that rebuilds them.

is this kinda a fishy thing or what do you think about this?
im in the market for a 700r4 for my truc, but cant afford 1000$ range:waah:

I would be worried. At that price, very few hard parts are replaced. A decent rebuild should start $~700+. Yea, they can get pricey. Sometimes, I don't even want to think on how much I spent on mine. Worth every dime though. :metal:

well i'm in Phx. and i am also looking for a 700 R4, i have seen prices at around 500, if you do not have a core you can add about 200 on top of that, as far as the warranty well it's only as good as the man who offers it, yes the price is good but if it turns out to be junk you will end up over $1000.00 anyways when you buy anotherone, me if i felt good about the guy i was purchasing it from i would probaly buy it but make sure you get everything in writing , protect yourself, as if you were the seller and ask for some real ID from the person selling it , i have no problem giving peole what they need to make them feel better about buying from me and i dont think others should either as long as they are on the up and up, jmo.

I bought one off ebay years ago. Showed up at the door in a rubbermaid container...LOL It ran for about 5 yrs then a bad TV cable (my fault) led to it'd demise. So I had it rebuilt.

He has a good warranty with it looks like. Just make sure you understand what's covered by the warranty and if it includes him pulling/installing or if you have to bring it to him.

Also, ask him how much more for him to install or at least check it out once you install it to keep the warranty valid. He may sell the tranny cheap, but will charge you to install it to keep the warranty.

When the shop rebuilt mine, he wanted me to bring it back in a week to make sure it was still good.

Around here for rebuilt 2wd 700R4's it's about $500, for a 4wd it's about $525. But I don't know what all they do them and how great they rebuild them. Good luck with your search.

all i want is damn overdirve:waah: and to get rid of this dam sm465 tranny.

maybe ill give him a call and quiz him to see whats up.thanks for the advice though guys

keep the sm465 just get 2.73 gears then you dont need over drive, just kidding, it sucks. when i first swapped out my th350 for the sm465 i would down shift 3rd to second then second to first and drag the back wheels. shouldnt hurt that tranny though, just everything else. i was used to close ratio 5 speed. launching in low is pretty fun though

Put a ad on Craigslist or in the paper saying you would like to trade your sm465 for a 700R4. And if the 700R4 needs rebuild after awhile just get it rebuilt.

i think the only people would would think of that trade would be off road guys so it would be 4wd
