It's been a while
4 Attachment(s)
Greetings fellow Burbanites! It's been a while since the last time I was on the forum. I've owned two '69 Suburbans, and most recently, a '72 Suburban that I sold a couple of years back. Well, I'm thrilled to share that number FOUR is on her way!!! She's a 1972 GMC half ton.
I'll add better pic's once she gets here, but figured I'd celebrate a bit as I've truly missed Burb-ownership. :metal: |
Re: It's been a while
That's one clean burb! Congrats on number four...can't wait to see more picks.

Good call. The ochre color does kinda clash with the red. Anxious to see your Burb as well!!! PM your contact info if you don't mind, and I'll give you a shout when she gets here.

Re: It's been a while
Can you tell me what you did to your '69 from this post - http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...postcount=1067
I'm interested in the drop and what wheel/tire combo you're running in the pic. Thanks! |

Don't quote me as I'm going based off pure memory from nearly 10 years ago, but I believe on that one, I did 4" drop coils in the rear, 2" drop spindles on the front and 1" drop coils on the front making it a 4/3 drop on 18" Boyd Coddington wheels (staggered 8's and 10's I think). I don't remember the tire sizes, sorry. I remember doing something like this to keep some rake with the long wheel base since at the same time, I had a '72 C10 short bed pickup that I had done the typical 4/2 drop, but on 17's. I remember wanting to go a little lower on my C10 when it was all said and done, but I didn't want to c-notch at the time on either, so I tried this. For me, it kept the Burb looking nice and agressive which is what I was going for. Will most likely go a similar suspension setup on the incoming '72, but I'll be going with 20's this time since I ran 20" Coy's on my last '68 C10, and LOVED the look. 20's really fill in the speace between the fenders and the tire (depending on your tire sizes of course). Hey, it's just money! |
Re: It's been a while

Re: It's been a while
Thanks Geoff! Timing is everything. Just heard from my transporter who actually had to act as a broker on this one. Happy to report that the Burb is scheduled to be picked up this Thursday!!! Estimated arrival time is the 10th, so we'll see.

Well, she's here... Overall, VERY DRY Burb! Still has the Minnesota tags, but luckily the truck was stored after being moved there from Texas (thank goodness!!!) A couple of spots in the hatch as expected, but nothing bad. I need to play with the carb a little to get her past the "momma sniff test", but otherwise, everything works, and she drives like a dream.
I was thrilled to find she has a factory tach (that works)! :metal: |

Plans:
- I'll most likely have the roof painted white above the rain gutters and down the top upper hatch to the molding (unlike below, but similar) - 20" Coy's (below shows 18" Boyd's which looks good too) - 4.5/6 drop is what I'm contemplating, but who knows? (below shows more of a 5.5/7 drop I'm guessing which works too!!!) Below is a rough "merger" of my old '69 and the new burb: |
