my truck just became my daily driver

My wife's car was totaled so she is taking over the VW, and I am a full time blazer captain now. This should be interesting. At least I got the soft top on in time for the heat!

If I could get the wife to pay for the VW car payments, even that won't be an issue! Not likely though.

I went from a 5 cylinder Colorado to a gas gussler 350 full convertible and still no regrets fun to drive especially with the top off

Yup. we just took the truck to the Horse farm an hour north of here, with the soft top down. Awesome truck. maybe one day I can swap a more fuel efficient engine in. Maybe. I wouldn't mind some more torque too. My 2.0turbo VW has some giddy-up that the truck currently is lacking.

No mention of injuries, wifey AOK? Gas stops will become a real PITA but you could do a whole heck of a lot worse for a driver.

Everyone is OK. Car was parked on the street, and someone backed into it. It's a 97 Saturn, so just not worth that much compared to the damage done. Hood was buckled, headlight smashed, bumper cover has holes punched in it.

Uninsured motorist coverage will give us 3,000 for it though, so no real complaints. Just some headache.

You and me are in the same boat, captain. Sorry about your Saturn. I've been driving my Jimmy daily all summer and with the sides rolled up 90% of the time. Mine's a diesel,so fuel consumption and torque aren't issues. I just put $50 at a time in it by the time it reaches 1/4 tank so it always feels like I have plenty . My '72 is the guzzler and the '92 isn't much better. I was sleeping in the Jimmy out at Harpers Ferry the other night when that crazy storm came through (well, wasn't asleep yet).

Yeah, the soft top has been down or rolled up anytime I am driving it. I really love that set up. The wife asked why I would consider swapping an LS engine into it instead of just buying the vehicle that came with the LS in the first place. I thought for a second, and told her there just isn't anything that appealing. None of the trucks have removable tops, or the look of these older trucks.

Time to find a salvage truck with a 5.3 or 6.0. Maybe a manual transmission too. This is going to get expensive I think...

heck look on craigslist. There is a guy a few towns over from me that parts out the newer trucks all the time. He is selling complete 5.3l's for 300 because he has so many, I hear the engines are hard to sell because they outlast the trucks they are in.

That is an interesting problem to have. Thanks for the tip.
