3 speed trans part NEEDED BADLY!!!
 

Hey guys - boy I sure hope one of you can help me here; I carried my 1961 Chevy Apache 3/4 ton pickup to my buddy's house this week to get him to help me install a new clutch; we were surprised to find that it took a 11" clutch instead of the standard 10" but then the bomb: the pictures show a part (do not know what its called) where the throwout bearing is supposed to ride and mine has the whole shaft broke off so we are completely dead in the water until I can locate a replacement! I went to a buddies house and he gave me one off a 1969 3 sp trans (the one on the left in the picture) but it is larger diameter than mine. My broken one is exactly 4 and 5/8" across where the one off the 69 is more like 5" or bigger - so it will not work to replace mine.

I do not know enough about the 3 speed transmissions used in 60-66 to say at what point a trans would have the larger version, but if anyone can produce an exact match to mine and sell it to me you can pretty much name your price because I am sort of hung up here without one....AS ALWAYS ANY HELP FROM YOU GUYS IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

My buddy is selling a tranny with the part u need let me see when he gets back after the holiday if he still has it.

The one you want fits 55-67 trans with 4 bolt side cover. The 68 up had the Saginaw trans & had 6 or 7 bolt side cover. I sold all the ones I had but it seems some of the guys on this website will have one or a parts trans.

That is some great info right there - thank you. As it turns out, my buddy (who is a professional welder for a living) cut the shaft off the 68 up one we had and welded it onto the 55-67 flange and was able to fix my 61 today - problem now is, I need to replace the 68-up flange above now because it was borrowed from a buddy's trans....so I will re-post this on the 67-72 board and see if I can locate the one to replace my buddies' ....Thanks!

Thank you - if he wants to just sell the part I need I will still buy it even though I have now overcome my issue by welding another shaft from a donor to the smaller flange....if he only wants to sell the whole trans then I cannot commit to that - too expensive for what I need and too much shipping cost to boot....Thanks!
