rear disc brakes
is it possible to but rear disc brakes on my 71, c20, 3/4 ton, 8 lug.
she takes forever to stop, and she likes to lock up. |
thanks alot it looks like $300 for the set. i didn't think it was possible.
I don't think that price includes calipers, emergency brakes, etc.
yeah that's just brackets, spacers bolts and rotors... no calipers or pads nor e-brake or hoses or anything. I've got a link to a guy that does the same stuff for a bit less $ i'll put it up later. Also by adding disc to thea rear you lose about 70lbs and that back end will wanna lock real easy still... For these trucks (all actually) check into your front end... perhaps some Praise Dyno products.... :) if you do the swap let me know as it's something i've been oogling over a while now.

well if my back end is still going to lock up with the disc brakes i guess i won't swap them. but i would like some thick vented rotors for the front.
If you use a valve to control the flow to the rear brakes they will not lock up. DISC
wouldn't i just hook it up to my master cylinder. or am i a complete idiot? what do you meen by valves?

Summit sells one part # SUM-G3905. It is called a proportioning valve. Alot of people mount them as close to the rear as possible before the tee to the rear. The frame rail would be ideal.
