Going to a detailing class tonight

I've been invited to bring my other ride (1968 pontiac firebird) to a TV/On-line detailing class. If you've ever wondered how they get these cars/trucks to look like they have a mirror finish, these are the guys. It's being done by Mike Phillips, who if you've ever watched any of those car cleaning/detailing TV shows your sure to recognize him- great guy really knows his stuff! and is also a member here in the 73-78 forum.

It starts at 5:00 tonight, here's the link if anyone cares to watch it online

If I've done something wrong by making this thread- then I apologize, just thinking for those interested it's pretty informative and cost nothing to watch

Congrads!

Mike is an awesome detailer and I have been dealing with A/G for years. I used to live in Fort pierce. They have an amazing shop/store.

Thanks, and Mike's a great guy who's forgotten more about car care than I'll ever know. Getting ready to go soon, always been afraid to take a polisher to any of my vehicles. Think he's going to be using several different products from the same manufacturer on it. Can't wait to see the results!

The car came out amazing, will post a before and after pics in the morning. These guys really know how to bring the most out of your paint. Think they' ll be putting pics up tomorrow. We did like a days work in 3 hrs, had 7 guys working on the car at one time. Was pretty impressive

ok, here is some before and after pics. the paint looks like it's wet or like a mirror. It's pretty amazing what you can do to bring out the most in a paint job. I can't wait to detail the truck like this!

That's incredible! I know the lighting is different in before and after, but it looks amazing!

How would you characterize the condition of your paint to begin with? The after shots make it look like it was just painted.

Thanks, you really can't understand the difference until you see it in person. Wish I could of meet Mecan, but it was pretty late when we finished and I think everybody had left already.

Quite a bit, probably the main thing is not to be afraid to take a machine polisher to your paint. Take your time, keep the pad level, don't worry about the small areas the pad doesn't fit in to. Tape off your cowl vents and other areas that you don't want the wax/compounds getting into. Make sure to use a clean towel for each different product, that's a few of the things i remember.
Been wanting to go back but just haven't had a chance. I think after one more class I'd feel a lot better about doing everything
