I want your old license plates!!
 

My wife had a great idea for my new garage and I'm taking it a step farther. I have desided to paint a two tone sceme on the walls with white on top and grey on bottom and I am going to use old license plates as a border to seperate the two colors. I have a few plates from old cars and trucks that I have had and I have a few antique plates and all are from Illinois. But, I thought it would be cool to have plates from all over. If you have an old plate that you don't want and would be willing to send it to me I will put it in my garage. I will take a picture of it when I put it up and post it on this thread. I did the same thing in my bedroom, except they're at the top of the wall.

I would say start hitting up swap meets, most people dont give away license plates. specially the older ones.

That looks good I'm thinking along the same lines.

Yeah, I figured nobody would send old valuable ones. I'm just throwing out a bone here and maybe a buddy or two would like to see their old plates in my garage. I have a enough right now to do one wall, so I figured over time I'll pick up enough to finish the whole thing.

Hit up your next local swap meet. When I go to the autofair there's usually a couple guys there with nothing but plates. The 60's/70's ones that are usually a little beat up are only a few bucks.

I have a set of 65 SC plates, but they're legally on the back of my Mustang :cool:

check out the pull-a-part. a few months ago i saw an original plate on a 57-62 (something close to those years) dodge truck. i almost grabbed it just because, but i can't tolerate any clutter that i don't use.

I am interested, and the funny thing is I am flying to Phoenix on Sunday and will be there until the 31st. What part do you live in? We will be on the north side of Phoenix by a moutain called Lookout Mountain.

I found a couple of Ga plates for you ,would you be interested in other plates not state issued ? I will try to get these out to you in a day or 2 ,you might even find a surprise or 2.

At one time I had plates from all the states around my garage wall. I buy them at flea markets for $5 and they are old. If someone gives you one,who pays the shipping?

Thanks a ton! Hopefully its not the same kind of surprise my dog left me last night :) j/k, Not sure if I know what a not state issued plate is but if it goes on a car then sure.

I was able to get to the Post Office at lunch today so your plates are on the way and postage is on me ,I think you will like your surprise and not like the one your dog left you . You should get them in a few days.

Not sure when you'll see them but your plates are in the mail.
Thought I'd show what I did today with some extra plates I had.
Way too much work for how it turned out. Its not bad but I was hoping for better. Made a plywood form to start. Then started beating, bending and cutting to fit.
Its for my daughters B-day. She's into VW's
