WTB OEM Chrome Short Fleet Sport Rear Bumper
I just bought a 70 Shortie and it has an aftermarket rear bumper on it now. I'm looking for a good solid driver+ (or better) quality OEM chrome sport bumper to replace it. I'll also need the brackets specific to this bumper.
Thanks |

Anyone?

Re: WTB OEM Chrome Short Fleet Sport Rear Bumper
We'll find something .. they were only on certain trucks from the factory, and as I understand it the bumper itself was an option. So, to find a good used one is a challenge sometimes I guess. When you don't need one you'll find them laying around everywhere.

Re: WTB OEM Chrome Short Fleet Sport Rear Bumper
Is this a 2wd or 4x4. I have a very nice driver quality on my truck that I have a NOS reserved for. I would think about selling it and have either set of brackets. LMK

Re: WTB OEM Chrome Short Fleet Sport Rear Bumper
My truck is a 2wd fleetside. Have any pics? Any dings or bends?

Re: WTB OEM Chrome Short Fleet Sport Rear Bumper
Bumpers are all the same longbed/shortbed 2wd/4wd. That should expand your search Only the brackets vary.

Re: WTB OEM Chrome Short Fleet Sport Rear Bumper
Yeah I'm new to this but I thought that the rear sport bumper would be the same for all long, short, 2wd or 4wd. As long as it's not a stepside. I was just answering w314speed's question. I sorta figured he was asking so he would know which brackets I need.

I alway purchase new bumpers. The appearance is so much nicer. Rear bumper brackets can be purchased used or new reproduction. The only difference in the rear brackets is whether your truck is a coil spring or leaf spring (all 4x4 and some 2wd) truck. |
Re: WTB OEM Chrome Short Fleet Sport Rear Bumper
Hey Keith, I've heard bad stuff about repop bumpers (not to mention other parts) plus it seems there are multiple choices when it comes to quality. Where do you get your new ones? Do they match the quality and workmanship of the originals? I'm SO ready to get this "cowboy" bumper off my truck. :)
btw: my truck has a coil spring rear end. |
Re: WTB OEM Chrome Short Fleet Sport Rear Bumper
I've gotten my last few bumpers from Classic Parts of America, because they are close to me and I can pick them up.
They are actually Tri-Plus brand. I've had good luck with them. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: WTB OEM Chrome Short Fleet Sport Rear Bumper
I haven't seen a nice original one in years.
I always say I'm going to buy a nice straight one and have it replated. Have you priced chrome plating? It's crazy. Plus I am still looking for a good Oem bumper. Posted via Mobile Device |
