Three simple Questions
1. How does the Head light switch knob come off? I pulled pretty hard and it wont budge.
2. Door hinge pins....The top hole in my hinge is a little wallowed out. Does this mean the Dorman kit will work better for me? Or should I go ahead and get G.M pins and bushings like I had planned on? 3. I bought a speaker for the dash (4x10). My radio has left and right channels. How do I hook up my radio to one speaker, or do I just pick left or right? 1974 C/10 is what I'm working on today. |
Re: Three simple Questions
Cant seem to find the button on the switch to release the knob and shaft.
|
Re: Three simple Questions
It's on the top of the switch, kinda hard to reach it.
|
Re: Three simple Questions
Mine is on bottom
i got it brand new and it was hard to take off took it to a old friends house hes 50 he took it out in like 2-4 mins lol for the speaker just pick one from either a left or right channel and it would be best to go with gm bushings |
Re: Three simple Questions
OK I got the switch out, pulled the dash to access the speaker. I had the door off so I could install the spring (It was missing) Reinstalled the door.
As for the radio that was installed.....It doesn't work the display is fried and crispy....Gotta find another 2 knob radio. |
Re: Three simple Questions
may not be good with only one wired but
use the left speaker left is the "mono" sound right is the "added" sound I'm putting both (3 " from burb) fronts in the dash middle(3X10)dash hole lower ohms rated speakers (than stock)will over heat the radio= toast |

Now door pins!....I hear with the Dorman kit you drill out the hinge if it is wallowed out a little bit. Are the Dorman bushings a bigger O.D to fill this newly drilled hole. I know the G.M kit is the better way to go but I don't want the bushings to be loose in the wallowed out holes of my hinge. |
Re: Three simple Questions
GM has oversized bushing , least they used to anyways . Half the time it was so worn to didn't even have to drill to install them just knock them in
|
Re: Three simple Questions
OK, Gotta look for that oversize one. Rest of the driver side holes look alright. I have never had the passenger door off YET...
|
Re: Three simple Questions
they used to make a "fluted" bushing kit for the check hinges that were oversize.
** there was a lot of talk on bushings including part numbers here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...oor+hinge+pins |
Re: Three simple Questions
You might look for speaker that has 2 smaller built into one housing. THey use to make them for the stereo sound out of a one speaker dash, not the best sound since they were so close together but better than being unbalanced.
