17" steelies
 

I want to get rid of the 16.5" wheels I have on my truck, it hards to get tires for this wheel size. But I do like the simple look of steel wheels. Its a '85 K30 so I'll be needing a 8 lug wheel. Are there any 17" steel wheels available?

I dunno about 17inchers but I know they have all kinds of these wheels in 16" that you can get for super cheap.

What about from a different truck didn't a few others use the same 8 lug pattern?

i've been looking for a year or two, haven't found any yet. all the new trucks have a big offset. probably have to have them custom made if you need that look. it would be sweet though.

I was thinking like the steel spare rim off a dodge dually should be big enough not sure on the bolt pattern tho.

16" is all you'll find. No 17" steelies out there that I've seen or heard.

Mine has 16.5's as well, just bought tires a couple years ago, not too hard to find,,,,,yet.

I honestly don't think they will completely go away, but I would assume in another 10 years tires for the 16.5's may be very expensive. Some of the vintage tire makers may also pick these up, never know...

For specialty wheels I've always used Wheel Vintiques. I'm sure they could come up with what you need, just gotta pay ;)

You can get 17" steelies like what you want, they just will not be found on an OEM application. Cheak companies like Early Wheels, wheel vintiques, etc... Be prepared to spend close to $200 per wheel though.

Sure, I can still get tires for a 16.5 wheel. But where I'm from, it'll just be 36" or 37" hmmv tires. The youngest tires are from 2007, I'd rather put on a new tire instead of a potentially dry roted one.

I figured it was gonna cost me. ;)

cragar has 17" steelies.. not like that tho kinda different but they're around 80 usd a piece... so not that bad on price.

Yikes I see you're from the Netherlands, that could be a problem I guess :lol:

Here in the states the 16.5's are still readily available in quite a few sizes. I still run the 9.5x16.5's on mine, and they can be had in an off road type of tread or more of a highway/towing tire which is what I use in a E load range.

Might want to look into just ordering a set of tires and shipping them over, it would probably be cheaper than buying a set of custom 17" rims. Just a thought.

good options, but not the kind a stock hubcap will snap onto. thats what I'm looking for.

If you guys want OEM type wheels in 17" for hubcaps more than likely your only option that I and others mentioned is giving Wheel vintiques or Stockton a call, spend the dough and have exactly what you want.

I know everyone wants to do this stuff on a budget but when you want something specific it becomes difficult.

My cousin has 1959 4wd GMC long bed. He picked up some 19” wheels off a bread delivery truck, installed them on PU. They looked pretty strange.

He did this over 30yrs ago & still owns the truck, he parks it next to his (2) 57’ Chevys, One is his High School hard top he has had since 1967, the second one is a frame off restored convertible that he picks up ribbons with.
