Help with my voltmeter
 
When looking at the voltmeter face on wich terminals are the positive and negative ones?

red or + is positive
black or - is negative

If you hook it backwards it will be quite obvious !

Yes I know it will be obvious. I don't want to fry the gauge though. At motornut I'm aware of what the symbols and Colors mean as far as voltage goes. But knowing what the symbols and colors mean doesn't help because these year voltmeters weren't marked. At least mine is not.

Run a couple jumpers directly to your Battery and hook them to te give before you put it in. Shouldn't do any damage if you hook it up backwards

Well I'm pretty sure I fried it. Ya in dash voltmeter guage. Sorry.....I shoulda been more specific.

Hooked it up to a battery with alligator clips and smoked a little.
Now when I hook it up it moves way to much or not at all
